YouTube is coming to the Apple Vision Pro
It took just over two years, but YouTube has finally arrived on Apple Vision Pro.
According to MacRumors, Google has officially launched a standalone YouTube app for visionOS, giving Apple Vision Pro users a native way to watch videos on a massive virtual screen inside Apple’s immersive Environments.
Starting today, every video on YouTube is accessible through the new app — including standard videos, 180° and 360° immersive content, and YouTube Shorts. Users can also access their subscriptions, playlists, watch history, and more, just as they would on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.
Until now, Vision Pro owners had to rely on Safari to access YouTube through the web. While functional, it wasn’t exactly the polished, platform-optimized experience you’d expect from the world’s largest video platform. A third-party app called “Juno” briefly attempted to fill the gap in 2024, but it was quickly pulled from the App Store for violating YouTube’s Terms of Service.
The official app is now available directly from the visionOS App Store — a small but notable win for Apple’s spatial computing ambitions.
That said, the Vision Pro’s app ecosystem has been one of its weakest links since launch. Despite debuting in early 2024 with plenty of hype, the headset has struggled to gain mainstream traction, thanks largely to its sky-high price and underwhelming sales. And while last year’s M5 refresh brought internal upgrades, it didn’t exactly spark a developer gold rush.
A native YouTube app doesn’t suddenly solve the Vision Pro’s bigger ecosystem challenges, but it does eliminate one glaring omission.
So yes, for the proud few who shelled out roughly $5,000 for Apple’s ultra-premium headset, you can now finally enjoy the full YouTube experience the way it was meant to be watched — on a theatre-sized virtual screen floating in your living room.
