Circle to Search is one of those features that makes you wonder why no one thought of it years ago. To activate Circle to Search, long-press the bar at the bottom of the screen of your Android device. If you're not using gesture navigation and are employing 3-Button Navigation, long press the Home button, which is the button in the center. That will take you to the Circle to Search UI. With your fingernail, draw a circle around the item you want to search for. The search results pop-up at the bottom of the screen.

Google adds AI capabilities to Circle to Search

Currently, if you have a follow-up query related to the search, you would use the search bar at the top of the screen to type in your follow up question. But, as with everything smartphone related these days, Google is ready to add an AI twist to the Circle to Search feature. The Alphabet subsidiary is testing the appearance of AI Mode, which pops up along with the search results. The AI Mode includes an AI Overview describing what you have circled. t also includes a search bar at the bottom of the display allowing you to type in a follow up question if indeed you have one.

Most importantly, when the AI Mode pops up, you can still see the responses to the search. This allows you to go through the answers generated from your Circle to Search, which will help you come up with the follow up questions that you want to ask. Underneath the AI Overview, which is an AI-generated description of what you've circled, is the search bar that simply says, "Ask anything."
This version of the Google app for Android is believed to carry the new feature

The new Circle to Search AI capability seems to have arrived along with the latest beta release of the Google app, which is version number 16.47. I can tell you that it does appear on my Pixel 6 Pro running the latest Android 16 QPR2 Beta update. Many Android users do not yet have this feature available to them. The Google app on my phone is running stable version 16.47.49.
